Community hangouts have been outdated for a while, although they were a hugely popular pastime in the 50s-80s and took place often in local gymnasiums. But The Sunset Social Club is a blast from the past, including: - themed events - themed music - themed food All for free.
This club was started and organized by Lucia Sciallo in the spring of 2024 when she got inspiration from the dance in the gym scene in one of her favorite movies, West Side Story. Aside from planning and setting up each event, she also cooks the food, makes all the flyers, built and edits the website, makes the playlists, and takes care of everything and anything club related.
At the end of summer, The Sunset had a casual-formal fundraising event with raffle baskets in which $38 was raised to get more decorations and expand ideas for future events. A huge "thank you" goes out to everyone who help make this club happen: Mrs. Megan & Mrs. Elaine who let us use the library space. Marissa D, Gianna Y, Hasini C, Nora C, and Lily B who have supported the club every step of the way. And everyone who generously gave money during the fundraiser.
